Ramadan – Helpful Information

For those delegates observing Ramadan during the WFOT 2018 Congress please find some useful information below.

Prayer Room
There will be a Prayer room available at the Cape Town International Convention Centre for the duration of the Congress. Please note that there are no ablution facilities in the Convention Centre but bathrooms are located close by. Cape Town is also experiencing water restrictions so spray bottles will be provided to facilitate ablution.
For Maghrib prayers, a separate prayer room will be provided on Tuesday 22 – Friday 25 May in the Convention Centre.

Evening Meals
The Congress will be providing catering for Iftar on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at the Convention Centre for those observing Ramadan. Please note that there will also be a Welcome Reception on Tuesday night which all delegates are invited to attend.

The WFOT Congress Dinner is on Thursday night, so for those not attending the dinner, refreshments will be provided. For more details please see the Congress Staff at the Registration Desk during Congress.

Accommodation

Most of the advertised accommodation providers are in Cape Town's City Centre with many Mosques within walking distance. The following hotels will be offering services to accommodate Ramadan practices during the WFOT Congress:

Hilton Cape Town
The Hilton Cape Town will be serving Sehri and Iftar during the month of Ramadan in 2017. The hotel is fully Halal certified by ICSA and also offers prayer rooms for male and females. The Hilton has a corporate shuttle that runs between the hotel and CTICC at selected times during the day.

Fountains Hotel
The Fountains Hotel will be serving  Sehri from 4.30am to 5.00am each morning during the month of Ramadan.
