We invite the submission of abstracts addressing the following sub-themes:

Diversity in society
In this sub-theme, we address research and practice issues relating to human occupation in context and the role of occupational therapy and its partners in shaping society through occupation.

Impact of occupational therapy
This sub-theme encourages the exploration of occupational therapy practice in different parts of the world including the contextual impacts of practice and research and processes of involvement and engagement. It creates opportunities to explore knowledge and knowledge transfer to support culturally appropriate occupational therapy practice.

Positioning for public good
This sub-theme provides the opportunity to celebrate the profession's role in enabling health and well-being and related social changes. It includes occupational therapy's position in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary teams and practice and identifies opportunities for innovations in practice. Contributions to society at government and policy level will be included.

Critical Reflective Practice
This sub-theme explores narratives and lived experiences of the impact of occupational therapy. This provides an opportunity for case study or similar presentations relating to a variety of stakeholders experience of, and impact on occupational therapy including practice, research, and knowledge transfer.

You will be required to indicate your preferred presentation type - oral, poster or workshop presentation – when you are submitting your abstract. The Program Committee reserves the right to allocate the most appropriate format. with consideration given to the author's preference; available time; and, balance within in the programme.

To enable as many people as possible to participate in the Congress programme, each presenting author can generally be offered no more than two presentations.

Oral Presentations
Paper presentations will provide an opportunity to report on original research, innovative programmes and professional practices, theoretical and conceptual advances, and professional issues relating to the Congress theme.

The programme will include two main types of oral paper presentations:
Longer – 12 minutes presenting, 3 minutes Question & Answer per speaker.
Shorter – 7 minutes presenting, brief group Question & Answer at the end of the session.

The expected number of accepted abstracts for oral presentations (all formats) is up to 300 abstracts.

Poster Presentations
Posters provide a visual display of new techniques, programmes, research or professional innovations. They are the ideal medium for the presentation of complex visual material. A variety of poster presentation formats may be included in the programme – static, prime and guided poster tours.

Workshop Presentations
Workshops will offer an opportunity to develop participants' skills using a variety of presentation methods that are interactive and informal in delivery. Interactive lectures, case studies and demonstrations are suited to this presentation. 

Pre –Congress Workshops
A limited number of workshops, of half day or full day duration, will be selected to run on the day prior to Congress. These workshops are additional to the Congress programme and registration fees. A minimum number of registered participants are required for Pre-Congress workshops to proceed. Pre Congress workshops may be selected via the Abstract submission process and/or by invitation of the Congress committee.

Pre-Congress workshops submitted via the Call for Abstracts will go through a two-stage assessment process.  In the first stage, each abstract will be blind reviewed by two independent reviewers. The second stage will involve seeking further information to assure the financial viability of the workshop.

In – Congress Workshops
A limited number of In-Congress workshops, of 1.5 – 2 hours duration, will be selected for inclusion in the Congress programme and registration fees. In-Congress workshops will be selected as per the process for all Congress abstracts.

Workshop Abstracts to include: Learning objectives, Length of time required -1.5 hours for a workshop in the Congress programme; or half or full day for a Pre-Congress workshop, Description of teaching methods, Maximum number of participants

Nominating the target audience that your abstract addresses, will help the Programme Committee correctly assign your paper to a relevant session. Please choose ONE that helps define your submission.

Each abstract will be blind reviewed by two peers drawn from an international list of reviewers.
